World's Jewish population hits 15.8 million on eve of Rosh Hashanah

The global Jewish population is now estimated at 15.8 million, according to reports released ahead of Rosh Hashanah. Israel hosts 7.2 million Jews, constituting over 45% of the global Jewish population.

The United States follows with 6.3 million. Other countries with significant Jewish populations include France, Canada, and the UK.

While the Jewish population worldwide continues to recover from the Holocaust, it still remains smaller than its pre-Holocaust numbers. Demographic shifts over the decades continue to influence Jewish distribution worldwide.
